About

Every week movies are released on the big-screen or straight to your home via rentals.  A number of different variables are considered when determining whether you’ll spend the $10 for a ticket or the $1 for a rental copy.  Perhaps the presence of certain actors, or if it’s a screen adaptation of a book you liked, maybe even a good documentary will catch your interest.  But all too often movies lack a certain depth, or substance, that really makes you think and causes that film to really sink in.  Sure you want to be entertained, who doesn’t like a great car chase or a deafening explosion!  But those elements only take the movie so far.  On this blog, we do the best we can to draw out that substance, those things we can all learn from, and those gems that stick with us long afterward.

The thing that makes us at Let There Be Movies unique is the angle at which we view all these films.  All of us here are Christians, and God comes before movies for each and every one of us (though they are close behind).  In our reviews we’ll certainly give you our (not-so-professional) opinion on the quality of the movie, but we’ll give you something more as well.  We believe in just about every film you can find some morally good story lines, some redeeming characteristics in every role.  We’ll do our best to highlight those things and cause you to ask yourself, what would you do?  What kind of person would you be in that situation?  Could you make the tough but right choice?  Do you find yourself relating to the good or bad in each character?  In short, we’re trying to find God, or at least his characteristics, in the movies we review. In drawing out these types of things we hope to encourage our readers to cling to the good, the just, the right things in life and flee from the immoral and selfish decisions that we often find the “typical” Hollywood movie glorifying.

Don’t be surprised to find tidbits of scripture, recollections of something Jesus taught, or harsh words for certain lifestyles.  We won’t shy away from adhering to the commands of our Lord, and we hope you don’t either.  Please let us know if you enjoy our reviews, and let your friends know as well.

Happy viewing!
